I will wait outside, as long as you’re alright

Sunday musings…

I couldn’t sleep for the life of me. So instead of trying, I just got up, grabbed the blanket and logged in. I had spent the evening putting together a scene for The Arcade that opens on the 1st. The set – a rustic garage collection from Consignment was on my list. I hadn’t done a decor shot in so long, I wondered if I even remembered how to. But as I laid out the pieces, intricately moving items and imagining my scene, it started to come together.

What started it was a friend posting a “quiz” on plurk about our “personality defects”. His pointed to “Shy.” I could agree…he is a very shy person, but one of the most humblest I know of. I took the quiz too – and it called me a clean freak. A. Clean. Freak. Oh silly quiz…just because I like to organize all the things doesn’t make me a clean freak. Of course, I know it’s a silly quiz, but it stuck on me. There is this presence of self doubt that surrounds me lately. I second guess everything I do in relation to Second Life. What I wear. How I look. How I create. What notices I send. Even…how I take a picture, blog and spill on paper.

My self doubt leaves much to be expected. As a blogger, you want people to enjoy your work, to see your talent. You’re a blogger – not only for you (don’t give me that, I blog for myself bull crap) but for your readership, as well sometimes as though who in which you blog for. (If you call them sponsors I’m going to scold you too!)

It also comes back to whether or not my readership will enjoy this writing, or my fellow followers on Flickr will enjoy this picture. I question myself all the time. Blogger self-doubt can be destructive. It leaves you uninspired and lackluster. You feel like you’re letting those who you blog for – down. It happens to creators as well! I’ve been finding it more and more common around the circles on hearing that creativity is lost – inspiration gone! Where has it gone too?

Where did this self doubting come from? Are we not aiming for the same thing? What – if anything will make us feel worth it? What will push us on top?

When will we be okay with just being?
