It’s been a week since I last blogged – unfortunately the past week had been spent working in both worlds, a continuation of playing catch-up to a point where I have resided myself never to do that again. Of course, I say that now, and I’m sure I’ll do it again but for now, I’ll just say nope.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the concepts and community of Second Life. I used to be able to think that it was a lot like the one in our own Real Life, but the more I think about it, the less I think it’s even similar. I cannot help but to feel that at times the ugliness of people are more so exemplified here. There is pettiness, cattiness, and just plain cruelty. Questions pop into my head on those that seem to embrace this action: How do they look at themselves in the mirror each day? What are their thoughts as they “attack” others behind the glass walls of their “castles”? Do their actions make them think they are on top of the world and invincible?
After asking myself these questions, I realize that nothing I can say or even do will change those that continue to act thus. Instead – for someone like me – I just need to ignore the ugliness and walk toward a more beautiful picture. Lucky for me, there are those that walk the same roads and understand that in order to be a better person and better human being is to ignore the blackness of these people and go toward the “light”. I have stumbled in the dark before. I chose not to stumble anymore.
